The Ozark Wilderness Waterways Club was organized in Kansas City Missouri in 1956.  The "canoe club" combines interest in paddle sport with a conservation ethic, having been "organized for the preservation of Ozark streams."  The Ozarks are a geologically an old mountain range located in northern Arkansas and southern Missouri.
