Great
Features for Your Benefit! |
| This Sprite Bent Shaft "river or whitewater canoe
paddle", made by Carlisle is on close out. We snagged them!
Paddlers Note: For Bent Shaft Paddles to start the
paddle stroke, the paddle is turned vertical on entry to grab water as you
reach forward to grab gulps of it. Follow through is shorter from a
leaning forward position then sitting straight up again, thus pulling
water, so the bent blade enters square to the water and very vertical as
you reach forward in your stance and grab water. The twisting action
for ruddering is marvelous once you get used to it, as the twisting the
paddle while ruddering (trailing paddle in the water at the stern or back
of the canoe) makes the boat turn! Flex the paddle, turn the boat, a
lot! These are beautiful 7 laminate,
(butcher block layers) paddles that help assure strength, beauty, and a
wonderful piece of craftsmanship to paddle with. The square end shape has a resin tip
for protection to help prevent splitting. These have a great surface
area for great performance. These quantities are limited as this is
a close out! Get yours while we still have them in stock, ready to
ship! They are available in 50", 52", and 54"
lengths, small, medium and large as a standard size range. |
| Paddle Measuring
Tip! - Bent shaft paddles run much shorter
than a standard paddle because of the above quoted paddling method and the
frequent and aggressive switching of sides if needed. With Choices
as a 50", 52", and 54", these are sold as a small, medium,
and large in length. Match that to how you compare to the average
adult range (not including extremes). Women have longer torsos in
general, so I would use the same evaluation in relation to standard women
ranges. For extra large or smaller folks, grab the paddle on the end
of the size range. If you are uncertain and want to place an order,
just let us know your height and male or female in the shopping cart
comments, stating: "please review the length", and we will
evaluate the best length option for you. |
- Multiple grain color, bent shaft beauty, wood laminate paddle for beautiful aesthetics
of a crafted wood paddle
- Three laminate Palm Grip handle for a great feel of strength, easy on the hands, and
great rotational control for J strokes and controlling paddle angle
- Different colors of wood in the butcher block material for a
beautiful presentation, a paddle to be proud of
- Resin Tip Edge on the square blade end that protects the entire
bottom edge of the paddle area, unlike the protection coverage of
beaver tail paddles
- Carlisle quality for lasting enjoyment, an Old Town Canoe sister
company
