Great Features for Your Benefit!
We just can't say enough about safety! Wear your life vest too! Now the children. These are Type lll wearable PFDs for kids! (yes, Personal Flotation Devices), and have great features for their comfort. They hardly know they have it on! Now that is a great Life Jacket! These have a great, durable, zippered front and a "straight up the front zipper" that allows you to put it on them just like a jacket, very easy! From there, there are crotch straps, (glad I grew up), and it holds the jacket from riding up those little "baby fat" bodies. (Please don't say I said that, just a little Baby Huey shape going on there sometimes.) From there, the color is vivid to show off a great style for the color conscious kiddo. The kids are also proud to wear that same Extrasport Logo like mom and dad, even though they do not know that it reflects that same quality standard known for several decades featuring life saving equipment for the raft guide and rescue professional! They just think it is cool!

What is this "Type lll" and "16.6 lbs of flotation" stuff all about? - Type 1, Offshore Life Jacket; Type ll, Near Shore Buoyant Vest ; Type lll, Flotation Aid; Type lV, Throw-able device; Type V, Special Use Device - Almost all Extrasport designs are categorized as Type lll devices. Type lll PFDs are best suited for most recreational water sports where mobility and water play are involved including but not limited to paddlesports, jet skis, motor boating and skiing. We also make "of course" some Type V Special Use Devices such as our Swiftwater Rescue Vests. We also make Type ll PFDs, which categorize almost half of our children's vests. The US Coast Guard requires that all Type lll PFDs have a minimum of 15.5 lbs of flotation, at the time of manufacture. Since most adults wearing a bating suit weigh between 10 and 12 lbs in the water, (Wow! Loose weight, go swimming!), this requirement allows at least 3.5 lbs of extra flotation over the minimum requirement of 15.5 lbs, that excess margin is called Effective Required Buoyancy, (ERB). All Extrasport PFDs are designed with extra floatation to exceed the US Coast Guards requirements. When you purchase your new PFD, please refer to the required US Coast Guard "Think Safe" pamphlet attached to each floatation aid.
