Table Rock Lake Fishing Report by guide: Dan Boyer, May 5th, 2009
fishing reportĀ May 5, 2009
Table Rock fishing is getting better and better. The water temp is getting into the sixties during the day and the bass are up on their spawning beds ., particularly along the N/E shallow banks. Tubes jig and craws and small centipedes are producing best. The big bass are in several of my clients caught bass over 5 lbs and on one trip we took a seven and a half and an eight.
Crappie fishing has been perplexing at times one day you’ll catch them and the next day you don’t . The crappie should have gone to the bank by now but apparently because they are running 4 generators at the damn the crappie are staying out in the trees in 4 to ten ft. Swimming minnows and small crappie tubes in 1/32 and 1/16 oz are getting it done.
White bass are being caught on rooster tail and swimmin minnows in the upper James and trolled along the bluffs in the Cape Fair area. Most are small but occasionally you get some good ones.
You can catch a nice mess of blue gill and rock bass along bluff banks toward the back end of creeks. They taste great.
